The Festival

What is the Festival?

The Festival de México en el Centro Histórico, organized by the association of the same name, is the most important cultural event in Mexico City and one of the most dynamic and creative art festivals in Latin America.

Each year since 1985, the Festival organizes events that foster connection and reflection in the largest Historic Downtown area on the continent. These events include:

  • Performing Arts
  • Visual Arts
  • Children’s Activities
  • Academic Events
  • Open-Air Events

All are distinguished for their excellence, innovation, diversity and the balance they strike between tradition and the avant-garde.

Over the course of 18 days, close to 200 thousand people attend approximately 250 concerts, events and educational activities in more than 80 locations that include the Fine Arts Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Museum of Art, the Franz Mayer Museum, the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, the Zócalo and the Teatro de la Ciudad, in addition to other open-air spaces, museums, cultural centers and city squares.
